Judge J. Bis Ray Unable to Open Civil Term, Sept. 6, 1921

Judge Ray Unable to Open Civil Term

Clerk C.C. Moore of Superior Court and Sheriff W.O. Cochran received word Monday from Judge J. Bis Ray of Burnsville saying he would be unable to be in Charlotte this week to continue the session of Superior Court and would suspend it one week. The postponement is caused by the illness of Mrs. Ray, whose condition requires the presence of her husband.

Judge Ray presided over the term of criminal court held here last week and was to have come back Monday morning to preside at the two-weeks' term of civil court. The announcement from Judge Ray will have the effect of postponing the civil term until September 1.

The civil court calendar contains a number of cases of more or less importance. Several of them are expected to consume several days in trial.
