Gov. Morrison Denies Pardon to Rufus Brown; Gives Pardons to Forsyth Men, March 16, 1922

Whiskey Maker Stays on Roads

Raleigh, March 16—Governor Morrison declined to pardon Rufus Brown of Henderson county, serving a 12-months sentence on the county roads for manufacturing whiskey. The appeal was presented by the prisoner’s brother, who is not a lawyer.

Paroles have been granted to James Rouh(?) and Alex Berry, both of Forsyth county, charged with violating the prohibition laws and who ae serving road sentences. Both prisoners are in ill health.
