Miss Georgia Brady, 18, of Kannapolis, is in the Salisbury hospital with a severe contusion and fracture of the body and shoulder; Charles Davner, 14, is undergoing treatment for a badly fractured arm and dislocated shoulder, and Mrs. Eugene Davner, 34, is suffering from a serious shake-up—the result of a bad automobile collision which occurred at the corner of Fulton and Innes streets about 10:30 o’clock this morning. Although painfully injured, neither of the parties are considered in a serious condition, according to reports from the hospital this afternoon.
The smash-up occurred when a car driven by S.O. Bostian of China Grove, coming down South Fulton street, collided with an automobile operated by Eugene Davner of Kannapolis, traveling down West Innes street. Mr. Davner’s car turned half over when it ran against the curbing, three of the four occupants of the machine being injured.
The injured were rushed to the hospital soon after the accident where they received medical attention. They are reported as doing nicely and steadily improving.
Both cars were badly damaged in the crash, the car belonging to Mr. Davner being almost demolished. Both were Ford touring cars. It is said neither were exceeding the speed limit.
Such a large crowd gathered immediately after the accident, that traffic was blocked for several minutes at this junction.
Mr. Bostian was brining J.E. Deal, both of China Grove, to the Salisbury hospital to see his son who has been under treatment at this institution for some time when the accident occurred. Neither were injured.
It is stated that Mr. Davner, wife and child, had come to the city this morning for shopping and business purposes. Mr. Davner, who was driving the car, escaped uninjured.
