Kiwanis Entertains 350 Children at Elizabeth City, Aug. 25, 1922

Most Fun They’ve Had This Season

The top picture shows a portion of the groups of 350 children entertained by the Elizabeth City Kiwanis Club at the Fair Grounds last Friday. The youngsters were too busy enjoying themselves to find time to pose for a picture. The bottom picture shows the prize winners in the races for boys. Somewhere in the group are Gilbert Doby, William Mattrea, Reuben Berry, Dewey Copeland, Claude Gregory, Dec (Doc? Dee?) Phelps and George Fearing.

Want a Lodge on River

The Kiwanis Club is making plans to acquire a lodge on Pasquotank River, with picnic and camping grounds, football and baseball fields, not far from the city, where children may go to enjoy themselves to their heart’s content. A party of Kinwanians have already looked over the location with a view toward determining a site for a suitable structure. It is the purpose of the club when once the building is erected, to have one member there each day in the week to look after things and receive visitors.
