Smacking of Willow Against Horsehide, Clacking of Marbles Prove Spring Is Here, March 10, 1923

Yes, Spring’s Here Despite Groundhog

Anyone wanting conclusive proof that spring is here should take a few minutes off any afternoon now and wander around to the corner of Jackson and Fisher streets and let the smack of the horsehide against the willow furnish it.

Yes, the first baseball game noted by the Evening Post was held yesterday afternoon on the church lot.

But that’s not the only proof we have that spring is here. Marble games have been in progress for several afternoons on the vacant lot next to the Evening Post.

The groundhog has two more weeks of bad weather to furnish if he maintains his reputation as a weather man. Our faith in him has already weakened. How about yours?
