American Legion Considering 4th of July Celebration, April 19, 1923

Legion Meets

The Fred Williams Post No. 75 met Thursday night in the regular bi-monthly meeting. It was decided to meet on the first and third Thursday nights, after May 1st, instead of the second and fourth, so as to not conflict with the Royal Arch meetings. It was decided to put on a big minstrel at Spindale, April 24th, and here April 25th.

A committee composed of Messrs. B.B. Waldrop, Grady Yelton and Grandy Jones was appointed to feel out the sentiment of the people of the town as to whether or not they desired a celebration here July 4th. The post is considering strongly of putting it on.
