W.T. Marshall of Durham was arrested Saturday morning and placed under a bond of $500 upon a charge of driving under the influence of whiskey, and Miss Ella King of Elliot street is in Watts hospital suffering injuries about the face following an auto collision occurring on the Roxboro road in front of the Hall residence.
It is stated that Marshall was operating a Dodge car along the road, and when he met a Studebaker in which Miss King and others were riding he seemed unable to manage his own machine, resulting in a collision and considerable damage to both. So forceful was the collision that occupants of both machines were badly shaken up and bruised. Miss King was badly cut on her left cheek by glass. Miss Barber, another occupant of the Studebaker was considerably shaken up.
Durham county authorities arrived at the scene of the accident and found the two automobiles badly wrecked. Marshall, who was arrested, declares that the accident was unavoidable. He sustained several broken ribs and other injuries.
