Local Ministers Against Street Dance, Sept. 5, 1923

Local Ministers Against Street Dance This Week

Opposition to the street dances here on Farmers’ Days Thursday and Friday of this week has developed. At a meeting of the Ministerial Union on Monday the preachers went on record and made a protest against pulling off these dances.

The following was sent in with a request that it be given conspicuous publicity:

Action of Minister’s Association Relative to Street Dances

At the regular monthly meeting of the Minister’s Association Monday motion was passed directing publication in Reidsville Review of disapproval of the dances scheduled for Thursday and Friday nights of this week in connection with the observance of Farmers’ Days.

This action was taken to make clear the stand of the ministers of Reidsville in regard to the dance and to make emphatic their belief that the night part of the Farmers’ Days program does not represent the Christian sentiment of the town.

W.E. Goode, Secretary
