Allen J. Honeycutt, whose trial and conviction a couple of years ago was a Federal court sensation, will be coming home from Atlanta soon, having been paroled by President Coolidge on recommendation of Judge Henry G. Connor and former District Attorney Aydlett. Honeycutt, who distributed merchandise stolen from trains passing through in interstate commerce, was formerly a rather reputable merchant at the Falls of the Neuse in this county.
He made considerable money during boom times, always had many friends who gave him a good character at his trial. He employed the ablest of counsel and put up a great fight. A lawyer now lives on a $60,000 place which belonged to Honeycutt when the trial began. Coming home as applied to his return was something of a figure of speech.
