Mackeys, Nov. 5—Ralph Collins, who is charged with shooting and fatally injuring Dr. A.H. Disosway of Columbia, has been arrested and lodge in jail to await a preliminary hearing. Dr. Disosway was rushed to a hospital at Washington, but died last night. The men are said to have had an argument Friday night, and it is alleged that Collins returned later and shot Dr. Disosway while he was asleep. Two loads of shot were fired into the body of the physician.

Funeral Services for Dead Doctor at New Bern
New Bern, Nov. 5—Remains of Dr. Alpheus W. Disosway, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Disosway of this city, who died in a Washington hospital last night as a result of gun shot wounds received at the hands of unknown persons in a house near Columbia, Tyrrell county, Friday night, were brought to New Bern from Washington this afternoon.
Dr. Disosway was on a hunting trip with a party of friends and was spending the night at a house in the country near Columbia. Earl Davis, young white man of that town who carried him to the hospital in Washington, was reported to have said he found the wounded man in his room at the country house helpless form gunshot wounds in both thighs, apparently inflicted several hours before.
Davis’ account it was said was that one or two men entered Dr. Disosway’s room about 2 o’clock Saturday morning and fired on him twice with a shotgun and fled. He was unable to say who the alleged assailants were, but was quoted as telling the hospital authorities that Tyrrell county officers thought they were on their trail.
Davis arrived in Washington at 3:30 yesterday afternoon with Dr. Disosway who was already pulseless from loss of blood. His parents and wife who were here were notified and reached the hospital a few hours before his death at 9:30. Dr. Dave Tayloe Jr., Beaufort county coroner, took charge after Dr. Disosway’s death, but when communicated with was unable to give any facts surrounding the shooting.
Dr. Disosway was practicing medicine at Columbia. He was reared here and after graduation from medical college spent a few years here, later moving to Oriental, where he practiced for a time. He is survived by his wife, a native of Columbia, his parents, and a sister, Mrs. George Moulton of New Burn. Funeral will be conducted tomorrow.
