Charlie Farmer Gets 10-15 Years for Second Degree Murder, Out on Bond, Feb. 3, 1924

Slayer of Deputized Man Gets Penitentiary Sentence. . . Farmer Found Guilty of Murder in Second Degree. . . The Jury Recommended Mercy Which Means He Will Pay Not More Than 15 Years Or Less Than 10 Years for the Error of His Way

Charlie Farmer was yesterday convicted of murder in the second degree and sentenced to a term of from 10 to 15 years in the penitentiary. The jury deliberated for three hours before returning the verdict of second degree murder, with a recommendation of mercy. The judge made a very strong charge to the jury in connection with the case.

Attorneys for the defense took an appeal, and bond was fixed at $5,000, which was furnished by friends of the defendant from the southern part of the county.
