Satterfield, Burke, Armstrong Charged with Intoxicating and Robbing Farmers, Feb. 12, 1924

Three Negresses Arrested, Charge Larceny of $368. . . Trial Tomorrow. . . Katie Satterfield, Ada Burke, Junita Armstrong Charged with Intoxicating Green County Farmers and Relieving Them of Wad of Green and Yellow Backs

The local police department have succeeded in capturing the three negresses who are supposed to have robbed George Howard and Walter Brown, two negro farmers of Green county, of $368.50 on the night of January 22nd.

Three negresses are under arrest and all charged with the larceny of the money. The three women are Katie Satterfield, Ada Burke and Juanita Armstrong, the former of the trio was arrested in Durham last week and brought back to this city by Officer Herndon, while the other two were arrested in the city.

The two farmers came to this city on January 22 and sold some tobacco. After selling their tobacco they met up with the women and went to a house on Devil’s Alley, where they were intoxicated with “doped” liquor and robbed of their money according to the statements made by Howard and Brown.

The police were notified and two arrests were made. After an investigation and trial, the two negresses arrested proved to be innocent of the charge, and were set free.

The three now under arrest will be given a hearing before Mayor Silas ?? tomorrow morning.
