The rising Junior Class in its regular monthly meeting, held here Tuesday, elected a complete staff of Maroon and Gold officers for the year 1924-25.
W.B. Terrell of Burlington, N.C., was elected to succeed S.M. Lynam as editor.
Mr. Terrell is a popular member of the Junior Class of this year and is now managing editor of the Maroon and gold. He has served well in this capacity and his experience on the staff will fit him to serve as editor-in-chief. He is active in all college activities of a literary nature especially.
M.G. Wicker of Greensboro, N.C., becomes managing editor. Mr. Wicker is a loyal member of the Sophomore Class and is popular throughout the student body. He is a member of the Y.M.C.A. cabinet, is to represent his class as one of the debaters in the annual Freshman-Sophomore debate in April. He will, no doubt serve the paper well in this position.
Clyde Gordon was elected business manager with W.S. Weathers as his assistant. These two men have had experience in office work and they are well fitted to handle the business end of the paper.
A.L. Combs becomes advertising manager with J.U. Simpson as assistant. Mr. Combs is a popular member of the Class of ’26 and can be depended on to do his work well whatever it may be.
Mr. Simpson’s experience as manager of the College Store will aid him in this work and he will prove an able assistant for Mr. Combs.
G.C. White and T.V. Huey will have charge of the circulation, the former as manager and the latter as assistant.
Mr. White is president of the Sophomore Class and last year represented his class as debater against the Sophomores to his credit.
Mr. Huey is an athlete but is also interested in literary activities. These men can be counted on to do their part in making the paper a success.
Misses Rose Fulgham and Arline Lindsay were also elected as assistants on circulation. They will have charge of the papers in the girls’ dormitories. These young women serve well in any position they are asked to fill.
W.L. McLeod will have charge of the exchanges. He is to be exchange editor. Mr. McLeod is a faithful member of his class and can be counted on to do his work well.
The Junior Class is responsible for the college paper and all officers, with the exception of the editor-in-chief, usually come from that class. The class will take over the paper the 1st of April. The election at this time is to give the new staff a chance to learn something of the work from the old staff before it leaves office.
The class feels that it has chosen well in its election of this staff and feels sure that the new officers will justify their confidence by keeping the Maroon and Gold up to the standard it has now attained.
