J.H. Lewis Died Suddenly of Heart Trouble, May 21, 1924

Sudden Death of Mr. Harrison Lewis Monday Evening

Mr. J.H. Lewis of Wilksboro died Monday evening, May 19, 1924, abut 7 o’clock suddenly from heart trouble. he was at his store near his home when the end came.

Mr. Lewis was born in Wilkes county, Somers township, February 7, 1856, and was married to Miss Ruth Somers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. james Somers, May 11th, 1881, to which union one son and one daughter was born, Mr. James or “Bud” Lewis and Miss Anne Lewis, who lives with her parents, the former living at Casper, Wyo. He is survived by his wife and two children and two brothers and one sister: Mr. S.A. Lewis of Lexington and Mrs. Wiley C. Lewis of Elkin, and Mrs. Mary Williams of Iredell county.

He had been a member of the Methodist church in Wilkesboro for many years. In early manhood he came to this community and afterwards married.

He engaged in carpentry which was his chief occupation.

He was a member of the Masonic fraternity.

At this hour Tuesday afternoon the family, including Mr. Wiley C. Lewis, who arrived from Elkin Tuesday morning were awaiting an answer from his son before fixing the time of the funeral, which however will probably be Wednesday afternoon unless he is coming.
