Scotland Neck, July 19—Gerson Cotton, negro, killed Ida Covington, a negress, and wounded four other negroes this afternoon with one cartridge fired from a single barrel shotgun during a brawl near here. One of the wounded is a five-year-old girl. Cotton fired from the highway about 20 feet from the porch on which the five were huddled together. Cotton has not been apprehended at a late hour tonight.
