Officers Barely Miss Two Stills. . . Manufacturers of Booze Got Away with Their Equipment

Two stills were raided, but none captured, Saturday. The attendants on them suddenly spirited them away just before the arrival of the officers. A fire was found still burning where one had just been in operation, but the birds had flown, taking with them the implements of their trade, the two worms being all that fell into the hands of the law.

During the course of the day’s work, at evening, after the spots had been gone over in the morning, a 10-gallon keg and a half-gallon jar of whisky were discovered. The jar had been cached in an old stump and appeared to have been at rest there for months. The keg was of a fresh run. Morgan and Couch engineered the morning attack, while the finding of the liquor fell to Belvin, Couch and King.
