Raleigh, Aug. 10—Couples having children will be given a rental rate $5 lower per month in an apartment house erected here by the Rt. Rev. Joseph Blount Cheshire, bishop of the Protestant Episcopal diocese of North Carolina. In addition, couples with children will be given preference over those without children.
Declaring that he prefers to hear the sound of childish voices in his apartment, Bishop Cheshire today professed disgust with those owning apartment houses who barred children. He declared that the property into which he has put his life savings would resound with children’s voices if he were able to secure tenants with families.
