Mr. and Mrs. Herman Weil of Goldsboro came up Friday night and stayed over for the football game Saturday.

W.N. Canady, who has bought John T. Fowler’s place out on the Pittsboro road—the old Purefoy place—hopes to move in about January 1.

Jo Pratt went down to Raleigh to have his tonsils taken out and was there several days.

Miss Loulie Busbee is expected to come from Raleigh tomorrow to spend the week-end with Mrs. Charles Mangum.

Miss Jane Toy underwent an operation for appendicitis in Watts Hospital last Thursday. She is growing steadily stronger.

Miss Henrietta Smedes is back from her vacation.

Hugh Robertson of Bronxville, New York, came down to Chapel Hill Saturday and returned home Sunday accompanied with Mrs. Robertson, his daughter, and his niece.

Edmund Brown left Wednesday for Amherst to see the inauguration of the new president. He will be home before Sunday.

Mrs. Lena Harris of Charlotte returned to Chapel Hill with Mrs. Hugh Robertson last Thursday and visited Mrs. Archer until day before yesterday.

Mrs. Watts is here with her small son on a visit to her sister, Mrs. Lyons on Hillsboro street.

Miss Elizabeth Henderson was here Saturday and Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. G.T. Blackford of Durham wee guests of the Deys on Saturday.

Jack Beard has recovered from his illness. He is strolling about the streets once more.

Miss Ettie Mangum went over to Durham last week to spend a day with Miss Nannie Mangum.

The Lucy Payne circle of the Episcopal guild met Monday afternoon at Mrs. T.J. Wilson’s home.

There was a Gimghoul picnic supper given at Piney Prospect Sunday afternoon.

Mrs. Walker of Holton, Kansas, came Saturday to spend the winter with her daughter, Mrs. G.H. Paulsen.

Mrs. C.E. Correll has recovered from a week’s illness with influenza.

Sid Sparrow and Fred Sparrow will open a market in one of S.J. Brockwell’s new stores on Columbia street. O’Kelly will occupy the other. They are moving this week.
