Charles W. Tillett Jr. of Charlotte, who came to the V.M.I. game Saturday, won the dancing prize in the contest on board the steamship that took him to Europe in the summer. He was one of the American lawyers who went over as guests of their brethren of the bar in England, and the ocean ball was by way of preparation for the social activities to be enjoyed in London. In the dancing, Mr. Tillett was paired with the daughter of John Moody, coiler of the famous Moody’s corporation manual, a handsome blonde whose experiences at dancing matched her partner’s.

As I see City Manager Knox coming down the street I am aware that he obscures considerably more of the horizon than he did a year or so ago. Health Officer Nathan, who weighs around 300, has a desk in the town offices with Mr. Knox. When I was there the other day Dr. Nathan confided to me that he was afraid his title to the greatest girth in the municipal government personnel would soon be taken away from him.

I offer congratulations to the majority of property owners along the eastern stretch of Rosemary Lane on their decision not to let the new concrete curb interfere with the trees along the sidewalk. Chapel Hill’s trees are one of the dearest possessions, and none of them should be destroyed except under direct necessity.
