Methodist Women’s Meeting

The Woman’s Missionary Society of the Methodist church met at the parsonage last week. After a devotional service led by Mrs. Stacy, and a business session, the gathering was addressed by J. Marvin Culbreth, secretary of the educational board of the church. His topic was “Evangelical Work Among Students.” He told of the 10 student pastors at work among 27,000 Methodist students in Southern schools. Part of his talk concerned the religious courses that, at some institutions, are accepted as credits toward graduation. He said that of the 27,000 Methodists students in Southern school, 56 per cent were in state institutions, 24 per cent in church institutions, and 20 per cent in other institutions. After the adjournment of the meeting there was a social hour, with Mrs. Paulsen as hostess.
