Allen, Nov. 8—A tenant house on the farm of W.F. Hagler was completely destroyed by fire about 6:30 o’clock Thursday evening. The fire was caused by the explosion of an oil stove.
The house was occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mullis. Mr. Mullis had gone to his father’s when the fire started. Mrs. Mullis, her day-old baby, and sister-in-law, Mrs. Ben Flowe, were the only ones in the house at the time. When Mrs. Flowe saw the fire was beyond control, she carried Mrs. Mullis from the building, in the excitement both forgetting the baby.
Mrs. Flowe rushed back into the burning building just in time to rescue the baby.
Neighbors seeing the fire rushed to the rescue, but nothing could be saved.
Mrs. Mullis and baby were taken to the home of her father-in-law, Martin Mullis, at Millgrove.
