Wilmington Is Still Fighting. . . Believes That Mandate of 100,000 People in North Carolina on the Ports Matter Ought to be Heeded—Start Movement Wilmington to Enlist More Backers for Ports Demand

Wilmington, Nov. 7—In the belief that the mandate issued by approximately 100,000 people in North Carolina on Tuesday as the value of waterway transportation and publicly owned terminals should be heeded, and to endeavor to keep alive the unselfish spirit which actuated the campaign, the executive committee of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce today called a conference of citizens interested in the questions, said conference to be held Monday afternoon.

It is felt that the principles and ideas enunciated in the recent campaign were of too much value to the state to allow them to die. It is planned to formulate a local steering committee to be of any service to the state in the future as to the questions. It is felt in Wilmington that the resultant effect of the recent campaign is good and that the helpful publicity has caused many North Carolinians to appreciate the value of waterways.
