Company President Arrested for Fraud, June 10, 1925

Rubber Company Head Placed Under Arrest

Salisbury, June 9—M.W. McConnell, president of the defunct Paul Rubber Company of this city, was arrested here this afternoon in arrest-in-bail proceedings, in which E.E. Barringer of this city alleges fraud in connection with a transaction of about $3,500. McConnell gave bond in the sum of $1,000 for his appearance at the next term of Rowan Superior Court.

Mr. McConnell was the former head of the Paul Rubber Company, which met with financial difficulties some time ago and in which it is said a number of people lost large sums of money. McConnell, together with several officers of the old company, were recently indicted by a Federal grand jury at Charlotte.
