A truckload of tobacco was stolen from the packhouse of Mr. J.D. Tapp, belonging to Tapp & Dixon, on Tuesday night of last week. On Wednesday the owners traced it and found it on the floor of a warehouse in Fairmont. It was sold but the man who placed it there has never called for his check.
It is believed the man named J.A. or J.B. Webb, from Johnston County, is the man who stole the tobacco. Webb sold a load of tobacco at Fairmont last week and got the money for that. This proved to be stolen, and it is said the car he drives was stolen also, and a reward of $500 is offered for his capture.
