Spelling Match and Box Supper at Oakdale Oct. 1. . . Proceeds for New Piano in Church—Successful Revival—Cotton Too Cheap

Marietta, Sept. 27—The revival meeting was a success which closed last Sunday night, the 19th, with several added to the church.

The weather is dry and fine cotton is being picked and marketed too cheap, which makes the producer feel very blue.

There will be an old-time spelling match for old and young at the school house on Friday night, Oct. 1st. Box supper, ice cream and other things. The old blue-back speller will be used in the spelling match. The proceeds will be used to pay for the new piano in church which was recently purchased from Stevens & Barnes of Lumberton.

Everybody is cordially invited to come and have a fine time. Everybody welcome. Don’t forget the date, Friday night, Oct. 1st.
