Christmas Times
These are Christmas Times. The opportunity is here to bring
joy and gladness to the lives of those about us. Now is it not a fact that many
a bright light that exists in the form of a big hearted citizen is kept under
the bushel and not allowed to give forth the influence it was created to shed?
To our way of thinking there is many a diamond that is never polished and many
a big heart that is never known. But what right has a man to live out his life
and be good all the years without letting others know it. If we cared to preach
about it we would say first that one of the commands of the Master was to let
our lights shine. In these days of the annual homecoming many a good citizen
just works right along and takes no time or makes no effort to get out of the
rut of a regular hum drum life. He gives no presents and gets none, he makes no
visits and no one visits him, and yet the truth is that he is the salt of the
earth that is not being used to save anything. It is just as much a man’s duty
to get in the swim when the Christmas time comes and be happy and help others
to be happy as it is his duty to make a living for his family. For what right
has a man to be so everlastingly serious after all? He has no right and it is
his duty to live as to bring good cheer and fellowship to the hearts of those
about him. If this hits you, get out of the rut this year and see how it works.
