Joe White Killed Dec. 12, 1922, at Lumber Mill

Instantly Killed on Engine This Morning

Joe White, oiler for the lumber mill of Major & Loomis at Hertford, was instantly killed early this morning when he fell on the engine he was oiling. Mr. White had punched the watchman’s clock at 12 o’clock. There was no other person in the mill at the time. It is presumed that an hour later when he went to oil the machine, he slipped and fell, the engine cutting his head in two. He had been in the employ of Major & Loomis for six years, and was highly respected.

He leaves a wife and six children. A daughter, Miss Mary White, is a teacher in the Elizabeth City high school.
