Sergeant C.R. Marcom of the police department and Superintendent W.E. Stanley of the welfare department have returned from Charlotte and Concord. They carried to the Mecklenburg Industrial school 18-year-old Eleanor Pearson, who spent three weeks in county jail before officials could find a suitable place for her. When examined by Dr. H.W. Crane, psychiatrist of the university of North Carolina, it was found that she had the mentality of a child of eight years. At various intervals of the night Eleanor had a habit of rousing the vicinity of the courthouse with weird howls of misery.
On the return trip a visit was paid Durham boys at the Jackson Training school, all of whom were reported to be getting along nicely.
