Trial of the case of Basil H. Hedgecock, former cashier of the Home Banking Company, charged with misappropriating the funds of that institution before it was absorbed by the Atlantic Bank and Trust Company, will not begin until September, according to a message received in High Point from Greensboro this afternoon. Hedgecock was expected to be tried in Guilford Superior Court this week, but it was announced in Greensboro that a special term of court will be ordered next month to dispose of the unusually large number of cases on the docket.
Judge Harding, who is presiding at the August term of court in Greensboro, said today that he expects to try as many of the 53 cases as possible before adjournment. None of the other cases will hardly be take up at this term.
The two Schoolfield boys, who are charged with passing a bogus check for $10,000 on the American Exchange National Bank, Greensboro, several months ago, also will face trial at the special term of court.
