A very serious accident occurred near Carthage Thursday night when a car driven by V.J. Cowing suddenly struck a car driven by Gus Snipes.
Mr. John Crutchfield and son, Gilbert, were in the car driven by Cowing, and were coming toward Carthage. Within a few miles of here a sharp bend in the road caused Cowing’s car to collide with Snipes’ car, which was parked at the side of the road. The force was so great that Snipes’ car was completely overturned, wedging the occupant underneath. Gilbert Crutchfield was thrown out of the other car and badly injured. He was immediately rushed to a physician and found to be pretty badly hurt. Mr. Snipes, however, escaped any serious injury. Gilbert is reported to be doing nicely now, although he isn’t completely out of danger.
