News from Guilford College Alumni, Oct. 17, 1923

Mr. and Mrs. David J. White, both members of the class of 1920, have moved into Miss Sallie White’s cottage near the college. Mr. White is still secretary and treasurer of the White Reality Company of Greensboro.

Fred Morris ’16, who has for the past year been post master at Kernersville, has recently with his sister Addie ’18 as partner, erected a wet-wash laundry in his home town. The probability are that the Morris laundry will be a success for there was a great demand for an establishment of this nature at Kernersville.

The following clipping concerning James Hoge Ricks ’05 was taken from a Washington paper during the summer:

Judge James Hoge Ricks of the juvenile and domestic relations court, Richmond, yesterday was elected President of the National Probation Association at its 17th annual conference at the Williard Hotel.

Alpheus F. Zachary, ’12, was married to Miss Lizzie Harris on June 31st, 1923.

Grady McBane ’22 is teacher of Science in the Graham High School. Mr. McBane also has charge of the athletics in this school.

Bessie Gutherie ’16 is teaching English in the Greensboro High School.

The town of Asheboro has organized a chamber of commerce with Dr. J.G. Crutchfield as president and T. Fletcher Bulla as secretary. Dr. Crutchfield, an old student of Guilford and better known to Guilfordians as “Jim,” is a dentist located in Asheboro. Fletcher Bulla is a member of the class of 1911 and is Superintendent of Schools of Randolph County.
