Roanoke Island to Get First State Road, July 11, 1924

Roanoke Island Road

A barge loaded with 16 mules, several trucks, a tractor and other road building equipment was towed to Roanoke Island Sunday night. This equipment will be used by the State Highway Commission to build a road on the island. Dare is the last county in the state to get a road built. Thomas Wilson, resident engineer in Currituck, will supervise the project. It will be about nine miles long.
