Shankle-Roberts

Miss Annie Roberts, daughter of that good Confederate veteran, W.H Roberts of Wolf Pit, was married to Mr. Protus Shankle, a world-war veteran, at Roberdel last Saturday, Rev. Mr. Hill officiating. The couple went immediately afterwards to Fayetteville for a few days’ visit.

Rone-Manship

Friends were pleasantly surprised to learn of the marriage on Christmas afternoon in Wadesboro of Miss Nora May Manship and Mr. W.R. Rone.

The marriage is the result of a romantic courtship, beginning during the draft days when troop trains were passing the city daily. Mr. Rone was on his way to France, and met Miss Manship as his train passed through the city. Correspondence sprang up, and upon his return he visited her. Courtship followed, and now the marriage.

Mrs. Rone for several years has been a most faithful and highly efficient clerk in the W.E. Harrison & Land store, and the best wishes of many friends follow her. They are now at Tampa, Florida, Rt. 3, Box 1, where Mr. Rone is in the railway employ.
