Citizens Ask City Council for Health Nurse for Hickory Township, Dec. 5, 1921

City council gave careful attention last night to a deputation of citizens who urged the board to appropriate $50 a month as part payment of the salary and expenses of a whole-time health nurse for Hickory township. The proposition was for the city to duplicate the amount the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company would spend for the good work and the remainder, about $100 a month, to be contributed by mills, factories and individuals. An answer was promised in a week. Those appearing before the board were Messrs. Charles H. Geitner, G.H. Geitner, Mrs. C.H. Geitner, Mrs. W.B. Councill, Miss Julia Wheeler, Mrs. T.C. Blackburn, Dr. H.C. Menzies and K.C. Menzies. The board was told the good a whole-time nurse could do. (From the Hickory Daily Record, January 5, 1921)
