John Ball Seriously Injured When DeHart's Pistol Discharges, July 5, 1923

Passenger Hurt by Pistol Shot

Bryson City—When Drawford DeHart entered a passenger coach as the train stopped here Monday, he took his place beside John Ball of Peachtree. DeHart’s pistol, which he carried in his trousers pocket, accidentally went off and inflicted severe wounds in Ball’s leg. A physician on the train rendered first aid and Ball was later carried to the hospital. He is reported to be fast recovering.
