Miss Boyd, Mr. Perkinson Wed, Nov. 12, 1923

Perkinson-Boyd Nuptials

The marriage of Miss Caroline Reid Boyd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel H. Boyd, formerly of Greensboro, N.C., now residing in Penn-Bryn, their country estate near Sandy Spring, Md., and Mrs. Thomas Randolph Perkinson Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Randolph Perkinson of Danville, Va., took place last evening at 8:30 o’clock at the Church of the Pilgrims, the Rev. Andrew R. Bird officiating. The decorations were palms, ferns, southern smilax, white chrysanthemums and Easter lilies, and the music was under the direction of Mr. Claude Robeson. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was dressed in ivory satin, made with a train and tight bodice, with princess lace forming the yoke and sleeves, and a soft bow at the waist falling to the floor. The skirt was ornamented with dainty sprays of orange blossoms and ruffles, and the bride’s tulle veil was held by a coronet of princess lace, beaded in pearls. She carried a shower bouquet of orchids, bride’s roses and lilies of the valley.

Mrs. Clement C. Brown, Wilmington, N.C., was matron of honor, and Miss Elizabeth Boyd, another sister of the bride, acted as maid of honor. They were dressed in blue chiffon crepe, with arm bouquets of pink roses. The bridesmaids were Misses Betty Bryant, Louise Perkinson, Margaret Richardson, and Marian Crawley, who were dressed in chiffon crepe of sunset yellow, with arm bouquets of butterfly roses.

The best man was Mr. Charles B. Nash of Charlottesville, Va., and the ushers were Messrs. E.B. Perkinson, C.B. Conway, Thomas F. Gray, D.A. Overby, Mortimer Harrison, Fred Holtzman, J.T. Hamlin Jr., Dr. Robert N. Harper, J.C. Nelson and Andrew J. Boyd.

The ceremony was followed by a reception at the Washington Club at which the bridal party was assisted in receiving by Mrs. Samuel Hill Boyd, mother of the bride, who was gowned in king blue sequins combined with georgette of the same shade, and had a corsage of tea roses; Mrs. Thomas Randlolph Perkinson, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Perkinson, Gen. S.L. Fason, Mrs. A.G. Walters, Mr. and Mrs. James K. Mebane, Mr. and Mrs. H.E.C. Bryant, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Small, Misses Bess and Margaret Boyd, Lucile Glenn Lydis Speight and Mary Reading Nichols.

Among the out-of-town guests at the wedding were Mrs. Thomas Randolph Perkinson, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Perkinson, Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Brown, Mrs. John D. Spencer, Miss Mary Spencer, Miss Mary Ivy, Col. And Mrs. Harden Haiston and Miss Elizabeth Perkinson of Danville, Va.; Mr. A.G. Walters of Reidsville, N.C.; Mr. and Mrs. Clement C. Brown of Wilmington, N.C.; Mr. and Mrs. D.J. Helm of New York, and General and Mrs. S.L. Faison of Governors Island, New York.

Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Brown entertained in the coffee room of the White Peacock, a supper party for 14, in honor of Miss Boyd and Mrs. Perkinson, prior to the wedding. The guests included members of the wedding party only.
