The Workers and Teachers Council of the Baptist Church held its regular monthly meeting at the home of Mr. Elroy Bailey. A goodly number were present, and plans were made for broadening and strengthening the work this year.
The berry farmers are busy getting up straw. They are anxious to get this task finished before the active planting season begins. Indications for a good berry crop are very favorable at present.
Rev. G. Van Stephens, recently elected director for the Cape Fear Columbus Association, goes to Greensboro next Tuesday to attend a meeting of the directors of the 75 million campaign.
The Tabor basketball team played the Chadbourn team on the Chadbourn court last Thursday. The score was 10 to 9 in favor of Chadbourn.
The infant of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bullard, who has been very ill with whooping cough, is reported much improved.
The Civic League held the regular meeting with Mrs. J.C. Rabon Monday afternoon. Plans for putting the flower plot on front street in shape and other work was discussed.
Hon. J.A. Brown is on a business trip in Georgia this week.
Donald Causey, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.M. Causey, underwent an operation for appendicitis at the Mullins hospital this week. The last reports were that he was doing as well as could be expected.
The Chadbourn Memorial Association will holds its next regular meeting with Mrs. Wayne Bailey. As this is the regular time for the election of officers, a full attendance is desired.
Mrs. T.C. Lewis, who has been confined to her bed for the past week, is slowly improving.
The play “Mr. Bob” will be given in the school auditorium on next Friday night, February 8th. Much work has been put on this play and it bids fair to be very entertaining. The proceeds are to apply to the new piano. Every one is invited to attend.
Miss Ethel Lewis, who is attending Cooker College, spent Saturday and Sunday here with her parents.
There will be a lecture on the Near East Relief at the Methodist church here next Sunday night. As this is the regular time for Union services, an invitation is extended to every church member as well as others.
Mr. S.M. Elliot has purchased the modern brick bungalow on Second avenue from Mrs. Edith Hucks. Mrs. Hucks and children will occupy a couple of the rooms until school closes.
The Wilson Café has been moved from Front street to Brown street, next to the Powers building.
Mr. J.G. Thompson is building a fine brick bungalow on Wilson street.

The score for the Tabor vs Chadbourn basketball game was given as 10-0 in the article, but there was a correction in the Feb. 14 issue, stating that the correct score was 10-9, so I have corrected it here.
