Since February 1, it is stated by Dr. J.H. Epperson, superintendent of the health department, there have been eight cases of smallpox reported in Durham county, most of them being cases developing in East Durham and Edgemont communities. Most of the victims have been adults.
On Saturday the most recent case was reported, this being an adult in East Durham. Health officials are making every effort to vaccinate all persons believed to have been exposed to the disease.
