Guilford College Women Are Active, Oct. 15, 1924

Much Interest Shown in Women’s Athletics

With the changing of the system of awards, the work of the women’s Athletic Association this fall seems to have gained appreciably in enthusiasm.

The institution of another sport, hockey, has greatly increased the enrollment in those interested in games, and has added not a little to the spirit of sportsmanship of the association.

Hikers may be daily seen scattered along the highways through dust or rain, as the case may be, during the period of legitimate hiking hours which includes time for a four-mile excursion before breakfast. It is estimated that the total distance hiked thus far is 1,000 miles.

Wielders of the tennis racket are no less diligent plying the balls across the courts than those engaged in the other sports. Preparations are already begun for the preliminary tournament which will begin this week.

On the whole, the W.A.A. anticipates a year of good hard work and much achievement.
