Spartanburg, S.C., May 27—Many Spartanburg citizens today are indignant over the attack made upon A.M. Carpenter, editor of the Sun, by Dr. Frank Evans, superintendent of the City Schools. The personal encounter grew out of editorials in the Sun to the effect that the trustees of the City Schools made a mistake in electing Dr. Evans against the wishes of school patrons and because of his alleged tyranny over pupils. Dr. Evans struck Mr. Carpenter, who returned the blow. Bystanders in Dr. Pell’s office quickly separated the combatants
