Arrested for Masquerading as a Man to Keep Men from Annoying Her and to Make More Money, June 13, 1925

Mother. . . Lived as Man to Avoid Being Annoyed and to Earn More Money. . . Mrs. Edna Brittendall

Los Angeles, June 13—Mrs. Edna Brittendall, mother of two children, has been arrested again while masquerading as a man.

A couple of years ago she was found in man’s attire working with a gang of day laborers.

Now she is being held as a check forgerer. She was neatly dressed in man’s clothing with her hair cut short when arrested.

“It saves me from being annoyed by other men,” she explained, “and I find I could make two or three times as much money dressed as a man.”

Several years ago Mrs. Brittendall left her husband in Colorado and brought her children here.
