Don Scott. For almost 50 years, to the people of Wayne County this name of two words has been a familiar name, and children all over the county have grown to manhood and womanhood from their earliest recollection in the home and around the fireside hearing good things said about Don Scott.
He found his place in life and was satisfied.
Is not he a wise man who finds is place in life, loves his work and is satisfied? There are different standards for the measurement of wisdom.
He who finds a true standard and measures up to that standard by daily walk and conversation is a wise man.
There are no “humble walks in life.”
No matter what the pay, one class of useful labor is just as honorable as any other class of useful labor.
As the Man of Galilee sawed the boards and drove the nails, His walk in life was no more humble and his work was just as honorable, no matter what the work of the rich man might have been.
Don Scott loved life because in a modest, unassuming way he tried the best he could to live the Golden Rule. He loved his family and they loved him; he loved the folks and the folks loved him; he loved his church and his church loved him; for more than 30 years he loved Ruffin Lodge Knights of Pythias and Ruffin Lodge loved him, mourns his death and tenderly sympathizes with his loved ones in their unspeakable sorrow.
