Sarah Wyckoff Dies in Prison for Crime She Did Not Commit; Refused Pardon Because She Had No Place to Go, Feb. 4, 1921

Aunt Sarah Wyckoff, an inmate of the State Prison for 42 years, died in prison last Monday. She was serving a life sentence for the murder of her husband, of which crime she was not guilty, as the murderer confessed several years ago. She had been granted a pardon by five different governors of the State, but in each case had refused to accept the pardon, as all of her relatives and close friends had died or moved away.
