Harry Payne Going to Trial for Attempting to Criminally Assault Ruth Harris, Oct. 1, 1923

Payne Held Under Bond for Grand Jury

Greensboro, Oct. 1—Probable cause was found by Judge David H. Collins against Harry C. Payne of Waynesville, a traveling salesman who was tried in municipal court on the charge of attempting to criminally assault Ruth Harris, an unmarried woman, in his room at a local hotel late Wednesday night. Payne was bound over under $1,000 bond for his appearance for the November term of Superior court.
