100-Year-Old Leaves $200, 5 Acres of Land, Cow, to His Wife, 102, Jan. 14, 1924

Made a Living on Five Acres of Land

Winston-Salem, Jan. 10—The will of Pleas Harrison, colored, who died a few days ago at Belews Creek at the age of 100 years, was filed here today for probate. His wife to whom he left $200 worth of personal property, a cow and five acres of land, is 102 years old and is enjoying good health. The neighbors say that Hairston made a good living on his small acreage of land.

From the front page of the Lincoln County News, Monday, Jan. 14, 1924. The deceased’s last name was spelled Harrison on first reference and Hairston on second reference. I don’t know which is correct.
