Car Wreck Lands Drivers in Jail, Jan. 2, 1924

Wrecked Cars

While on his way from his home in South Carolina to Hillsboro, where he was going after his wife, Dr. D.C. Barber was run into by a car driven by a negro named Walter Jeffries, near Gum Springs last Friday. Both of the cars were somewhat damaged but no one was hurt.

The negro driver was arrested and brought here and lodged in jail. Before going to jail he paid for the damage done the doctor’s car. Squire Blair also fined Jeffries $50. He did not have money enough to pay for the fine and damage, so he went to jail expecting to pay the fine this week.
