Mayor Silas Lucas Proclaims Armistice Day Observance, Nov. 11, 1924

Proclamation

On Tuesday, November 11th, a large portion of the civilized world will commemorate the signing of the armistice that brought to a close the most terrible conflict in the annals of history.

There is no more appropriate way of showing our reverence for the memory of our boys who gave their lives, and our gratitude to those who were rendered helpless and disabled, as well as the stalwart veterans that were spared to help maintain the pre-eminence of our country, than by pausing for a time before our respective vocations.

NOW, THEREFORE, I respectfully request all the citizens of Wilson to close their places of business on this day at 3 o’clock P.M.

November 10th, 1924

SILAS R. LUCAS, Mayor
