Morehead City Shipyard Completes Yacht for Will Street, Nov. 16, 1924

Fine Yacht Built Is for New Bern Man. . . Morehead City Boat Builder Completes Fine Pleasure Boat for N.E. Street

Morehead City, Nov. 15—On Thursday of last week there was launched at the shipyard of the Bel Wallace Company, one of the finest jobs of pleasure yachts ever turned out by this concern. The boat has been under construction for the past few weeks and is being built for Mr. Will Street of New Bern, N.C. It is expected that delivery will be made on or about November 18th.

The boat, which is 52 feet long and of 14 feet beam is a model of pleasure yacht construction and finish. It may well be termed a floating palace. The woodwork of the cabins both inside and out is of mahogany, finished in the natural color while the panel work of the interior is of a rich cream color, making a fine contrast between the two tones. This is offset by the brass trimming throughout the boat. Accommodations are arranged for 12 people.

The power plant consisting of a 6-cylinder engine which will give the boat a speed of 9 miles an hour. Electricity to light the boat and run the refrigerating plant is obtained from a Delco system. The built-in wardrobes, drawers and other conveniences for the storing of clothing, food and dishes are most complete. The whole deck will be covered with awning which will prevent the sun from hitting any part of the cabins. Generous space has been allotted for chair room on the upper deck of the pilot house. To fully appreciate the job one must make a tour of the boat, noting the fine workmanship and attention given to every detail of construction. Morehead City may will be proud of a firm who can turn out such a fine job.
