Mrs. Samuel Weldon Andrews died on Wednesday night of last week after a long illness. She had recovered from a severe attack not many months before, but her continued courage and the constant attention of physicians and trained nurses did not avail to save her this time. The funeral services were held in the Baptist church Thursday afternoon, and the burial took place at Bethel, her old home church.
Mrs. Andrews was the mother of 14 children, 10 of whom are now living. She was known among her neighbors as an ideal wife and mother, and she endeared herself to all who knew her by her cheerfulness, her fortitude in time of trouble, and her unfailing kindness and gentleness. The high esteem in which she was held in Chapel Hill and the surrounding country was evidenced by the closing of many of the town’s stores during the funeral and by an exceptionally large gathering at the funeral.
