Some time ago a Western family was seriously considering moving to New Bern. Many questions were asked a resident about the city. All answers were entirely satisfactory and pleasing until the information was learned that New Bern had no direct method of disposing of garbage. The family did not move to New Bern.
Our city needs a modern way of disposing of its garbage. Results and effects of haphazard methods are dangerous. Our citizens should plan as one of their most important future acts the construction of a city incinerator, where garbage would be burned to ashes.
